Deceased Name: Dorothy Ann Gershgol Gurovitsch

92, of London Rd died on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, in her home.

 

She was born on Oct. 10, 1910, in Duluth to Isaac and Rose Gershgol.

 

She graduated from Duluth Central High School and attended the University of Minnesota, Mpls for a brief time. She returned to Duluth to work in the family business, Gershgol Economy Markets, with her mother and father and two brothers, David and Joseph Gershgol. Dorothy married Robert Gurovitsch in 1940 in Duluth.

 

She loved cooking, doing crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader. She was a life member of Hadassah, and Temple Israel Congregation.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents Isaac and Rose Gershgol; husband Robert Gurovitsch; two brothers David and Joseph Gershgol; two sons, Sammy and Benjie Gurovitsch.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Francine Gurovitsch of Duluth; daughter-in-law, Sharyl Gurovitsch of Duluth; three grandchildren, Marya (Chris) Barsanti of Brooklyn, N.Y., Sam (Charity Engstrom) Gurovitsch of Duluth, and Rachel Gurovitsch of Duluth; and a great-grandson Benzion Gurovitsch; and a sister-in-law Goldie Gershgol of Lauderhill, Fla., and four dear friends Jenny St. George, Karen Anderson, Dr. Alan Peterson and Dr. Robert Dalton.

 

SERVICE:10:30 a.m. Friday (TODAY) at Temple Israel. Interment Tiffereth Israel Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the M.S. Assoc., American Heart Assoc., Temple Israel or the Donor's choice. Arrangements are by Johnson Crawford Funeral Service.
